The Coding Alliance (TCA) offers acknowledgement of qualifications to revenue cycle professionals who demonstrate proper knowledge and experience within the areas of medical coding, and medical billing and medical collections. TCA offers these to give experienced and educated revenue cycle workers a chance to gain acknowledgement for their hard work. TCA currently offers the following revenue cycle certificates:
- Qualified Healthcare Coder – QHCC
- Qualified Healthcare Advanced Coder – QHAC
- Qualified Healthcare Master Coder – QHMC
- Qualified Healthcare Patient Account Representative – QHCPAR
TCA’s requirements are geared to evaluate candidates on more than just the passing of training programs and tests. Our requirements are geared to assess individuals based upon what is needed to be successful working for all types of healthcare providers across the country. We place emphasis on requirements that potential employers have indicated they are interested in so they can do their best to hire the candidates they believe will be successful working on their teams.
We also believe that the age old practice of not considering newly trained coders for certification has unduly hampered and disheartened coders who have worked hard to enter the coding profession. We provide a way to acknowledge the achievements of individuals.
We also understand the value of coders and patient financial services workers who have been employer trained, whether formally or on-the-job, and who would like to be acknowledged. We provide the path for these individuals as well.
We, at The Coding Alliance, also want to acknowledge those individuals who have made health information and coding a top priority in their career paths. These individuals have gone above and beyond completing training, achieving top certifications from associations like AHIMA and AAPC, and being inspirational members of coding teams, supervisors, and instructors. We provide the path for these individuals to achieve our QHMC certification which designates these individuals as true “Master Coders.”
